Whitby Charter Skippers Association - Boat Fishing Trips

WCSA Press Release – Please Feel Free To Place This On Your Own Websites.
After the sucess of last years winter uptiding festival, the Whitby Charter Skippers Association will be running another event this year during late November and early December. This years week long uptiding festival will run from 30th November to 6th December. Glenn Stocks and Stagecoach Supertram from Sheffield will again sponsor the event and the prizes will be £1000 for the heaviest single cod, £300 for second heaviest cod and £200 for 3rd heaviest cod. There will also be a prize of £100 for the heaviest fish of any other species.
Spokesman for the event Mick Leonard said “Last years winter festival was a huge sucess, with all the boats full over the whole weekend of the 3 day event. There was lots of fish weighed in and as always it was great to see everyone with smiling faces in the Fleece public house after the match.” – “Given the suces of lasts years festival we have now extended this years event to take place over a full week. At the present time some boats are fully booked but there are places available on most of the WCSA boats. However bookings are coming in fast so please book up a.s.a.p to save dissapointment.”
You can book up for this years uptiding festival by contacting any of the skippers whose details you can find at http://www.wcsa.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/boats/. Good luck with this years event lads. All the best Glenn

Thanks for the support Glenn I know all the skippers who are involved with up tide fishing are really looking forward to some good weather, I am always a little surprised that more shore/coarse fishermen don’t have a go simply because anchor fishing is more akin to land fishing than everyday boat fishing ie drifting, the light weight gear and casting bait presentation is to be honest no different to shore fishing or river ledgering, I honestly think if people gave it a fair go they would be (dare I say it H,**%) no didn’t think I could seriously though a boat is a great way to reach those elusive shore marks
Good Luck everyone Mick Sea Urchin

Uptiding has a very similarity to shore fishing you are using a 6oz grip lead with a long trace and fishing in shallow water sometimes as shallow as 20ft the fight you get off a good size cod in shallow water can be a hell of a buzz to say the least december can throw the biggis out so we are hopeing with a bit of luck that somebody hits the jacpot with a cod over 20lb on my boat about 5 years ago we had a cod 28lb doing this sort of fishing in 60ft of water it would be great to see a fish of that magnitude caught in this competition but if its cod that turns you on this competition is the one at this time of year cod are the main fish which is caught throughout the competition there shouldnt be a ling in sight it is a cod only compettion except for the special prize of the biggist any other species.
