We Had Glenn Stocks on Sea Otter 2 on Sunday. We fished a wreck out on the 20 mile ground and Glenn had some cracking cod. A couple of the fish went into double figures, the average stamp was also very good with a lot of fish between 4-7lb.
Today (Tuesday 25th January) we had Paul and Jimmy on from Southport. We stared on the inshore wrecks on the 4 and 5 mile grounds where we got some nice codling. However the water just wasnt right and so we headed …

I Had a guy on the phone on Sunday who said the fishing in humber was poor at the moment so he wanted to book an uptiding day out of Whitby. I told him we were going on Monday, and that we had had roughly 30 codlings or so uptiding on the Sunday down off Robin Hoods Bay.
So with fingers crossed we set off on the Monday morning, the forcast was good with just a light breeze this guy from hull said he had 50 fresh small black lugworm, …

As always, we at the Whitby Charter Skippers Association (www.wcsa.co.uk) are very interested in the anglers who come to Whitby to fish from our boats. Traditionally it was the old 1lb jigger that was the favoured method utilised by anglers who visited the port, but in recent times we have seen the introduction of shads and various forms of rubber lures. As time has past we are now seeing more and more anglers switching to theses newer methods along with lighter rods and reels.
We would be very interested to hear …

However as early as March we had some lovely days with the lads enjoying what was to be one of the best starts to the year for quality fish I have seen for a few years.
Overall we had quite a few cod going into the 20lb bracket, so lets …

Festival sponsor Glenn Stocks and his mate Geoff charterd sea otter 2 for themselves today. They fished the grounds and wrecks at distance and were rewarded with some very special fish indeed.
The biggest weighed in at 23lb and there were many more well into double figures. Glenn said that they had actually wanted to go uptiding but Sea Otter 2 skipper Paul had suggested the best option was a bit of baiting and pirking on the wrecks.
The fish fell to a variety of techniques including hooks baited with squid, Jiggers, …

Well conditions this morning we far from ideal with a fair southeastly breeze and northerly swell. The sea state wasnt very nice at all but as the day went on conditions improved and the swell started to drop out.
With the wind easing fishing was steady, we took fish every where we went, the best of the day fell to Ray Smith with a nice ling which went over 22lb. We also had cod to over 8lb, considering the conditions we didnt do to bad some lads fished well and managed …
