Whitby Charter Skippers Association - Boat Fishing Trips

Thanks again to Rich for a fantastic day.
Hadnt slept a wink all night so i dont know why i bothered with a daft o’clock 4.15am alarm I was far to excited to sleep in
. The day started with a sausage and bacon butty and cuppa tea from arbuts cafe then off to spend my life savings in the tackle shop on things i dont even need! It must be a compulsive disorder with me
Anyway off we go out of the harbour looking back and thinking where in the uk has views like this its stunning.

2 hours later and 27 miles out Rich slows the engines and the horn goes rich shouts down you go lads, a few codling come up and some tiny ling show the next drift, No luck on the shads for me so I got my 3 blueys out as to which i wish id bought alot more! 2 nice cod and a 11lb plus ling in 3 drops, wow i thought this gonna be a good day I wasnt disapointed the fish kept coming and coming
A few of the lads had fish coming up to a good size.
I turned to my squid and said right get on this hook and do the biz well couldnt believe it 5 drops 5 fish 1 cod over the magic 10lb mark the others 6-8lb mark, By now my arms had started to go jelly i was secretly thinking please no fish this drop
we steamed off to another wreck Rich shouts its only a small one so get down there quick, As soon as we hit the bottom i think every rod bent my mate peter got a gorgeous looking 9.7lb cod on a red shad me been helpfull i got the gaff and missed knocking the fish off
i chased it round the boat as it swam wack i lundged at it and some how gaffed it happy days pete you got your fish in the end!!!
I dropped back down after setting up again bang i hit the bottom and thought oh no not again but to my suprise i got an almighty thud thud thud i knew this was a nice fish
i wasnt disapointed over 10lb when weighed at the weigh in must have lost a bit of weight after been sat on the boat for 6 hours cooking in the sun.
The fishing after that was steady away from each wreck Rich dropped on we all seemed to pull something up. Happy days
