Whitby Charter Skippers Association - Boat Fishing Trips

Report From http://www.thechieftain.co.uk/
This year we are going to fish the Whitby Uptide Festival which runs from Monday the 30th November to Sunday the 6th December.
We have not fished this festival before and fishing this close in, within a mile of the shore will be a new experience for us but we think the bigger boat will provide a more stable platform to fish from and certainly more space. There is a £1000 prize for the biggest cod caught during the week and also prizes for the second and third largest cod as well as a prize for the biggest other species caught. All the details are on the Whitby charter skippers site we are sure that most of the other boats are heavily booked so here is an opportunity to to fish one of the popular festivals.
All dates are available so give Des or Lynda a ring to book a place or even a full party.
We will be posting some notes on uptide fishing in the next day or so for those of you who are not familiar with the technique but in simple terms the fishing is with lighter tackle, a 9-10ft rod with a small multiplier or a fixed spool reel, 6-8oz breakout sinkers and 30lb mono with a running ledger rig and a 3/0 or 4/0 hook pennel rigged for the bigger baits.

W.C.S. are asking why bookings for participation in this event by anglers are slow or not being made. Perhaps there are a lot of people like me who would like to take part but cannot find details of costs for the various boats that are in this competition. come on skippers, how about some prices on the web site for seperate days or the whole period of the festival.

Each individual boat charges its own rate for fishing its £30 for each boat to enter the competition each day which then works out roughly around the £3 mark per peson to enter the competition its peanuts for whats on offer in prize money.
