Ive always said, that in fishing no 2 days are ever the same. Yesterday saw us run off only 5 miles where we fished the wrecks and hard ground. The water had cleared out lovely and the fish were playing ball and being more than willing to take unbaited shads. Today we went back to the same area and the slight swell (Unpredicted by magic seaweed) had coloured up the water and the fish had gone off the boil. In the end we had to head out onto the …

With the weather being nothing short of brilliant today I had one of my regular teams onboard. We decided to have a go at uptiding down off Robin Hoods Bay. I wasn’t that confident, but the boats that were off wrecking yesterday had struggled so Uptiding it had to be.
We made our way down to robin hoods and got the boat set on one of my favourite spots. No sooner than the lines were in the water and I was into a fish, only for …

We Had Glenn Stocks on Sea Otter 2 on Sunday. We fished a wreck out on the 20 mile ground and Glenn had some cracking cod. A couple of the fish went into double figures, the average stamp was also very good with a lot of fish between 4-7lb.
Today (Tuesday 25th January) we had Paul and Jimmy on from Southport. We stared on the inshore wrecks on the 4 and 5 mile grounds where we got some nice codling. However the water just wasnt right and so we headed …

I Had a guy on the phone on Sunday who said the fishing in humber was poor at the moment so he wanted to book an uptiding day out of Whitby. I told him we were going on Monday, and that we had had roughly 30 codlings or so uptiding on the Sunday down off Robin Hoods Bay.
So with fingers crossed we set off on the Monday morning, the forcast was good with just a light breeze this guy from hull said he had 50 fresh small black lugworm, …

Looking back over 2009 to be honest it has been a good year, as usual the weather allways plays a big part. The last 2 months have been nothing short of disaster as we have lost many days at sea. However as early as March we had some lovely days with the lads enjoying what was to be one of the best starts to the year for quality fish I have seen for a few years.
Overall we had quite a few cod going into the 20lb bracket, so lets …
